How to choose leather for corporate gifts
A leather gift stays on a desk or in a bag for years, so it keeps your name in front of people long after the occasion. The best corporate gifts are the ones that get used every day. Here is how to choose well.
Start with who receives it
Wallets, card holders and key holders suit almost everyone. Laptop sleeves, diary covers and folios suit desk-based roles. Passport covers, luggage tags and travel pouches suit teams who travel. If the group is mixed, choose designs that work for men, women and unisex use.
Choose a leather and colour that fits your brand
Classic dark tones such as black, brown, tan and navy are safe across a large group. A brand colour can work well in a small range, but keep the colour choices few. Ask for the leather to be named exactly, for example full-grain cow leather, and ask for a sample before you place the order.
Decide how to brand it
- Deboss presses your logo into the leather. Emboss raises it. Either can be done without colour for a quiet, elegant result.
- Foil adds a metallic colour to the pressed logo for more contrast.
- Keep the logo small and place it where it looks intentional, such as a corner or the inside flap.
- Test the branding on the same leather you will use, because different leathers take a logo differently.
Plan the packaging
Presentation matters for a gift. Options include an individual dust bag, a box, tissue and a personal note. Decide early, since packaging affects both timing and cost.
Plan quantity and timing
Order well ahead of the date you need the gifts. Approve a sample first, then confirm the quantity. Minimum quantities and lead times depend on the product, so ask for them when you enquire.
