Planning a corporate gifting programme: a simple timeline
Good corporate gifting is mostly good planning. This timeline counts back from the date the gifts need to be in your recipients’ hands. It is a rough guide, since real lead times depend on the product and quantity.
12 to 10 weeks before
Decide the occasion, audience, budget and approximate quantity. Shortlist two or three products and ask for the catalogue.
10 to 8 weeks before
Request samples, and choose the leather, colour, branding method and logo position.
8 to 6 weeks before
Approve the sample and the logo artwork in writing. Confirm quantity, colours and packaging. Once these are signed off, production can be scheduled.
6 to 2 weeks before
Production and quality checks. Ask for photographs or a pre-shipment sample if you want to see the finished lot before it ships.
The last two weeks
Packing, any personalisation, and delivery to your office or directly to recipients.
Tips
- Festival and year-end periods are busy, so start earlier if your date falls then.
- Order a little extra for late joiners and replacements.
- Keep one person responsible for approvals, so nothing waits.
